Farm Pond beach season opens with new lifeguard stand
July 2, 2026 · By the Acorn Staff

The summer swimming season at Farm Pond began this week with a fresh look. A new lifeguard stand and expanded wooden deck now overlook the beach, funded in part by a state conservation grant. The old stand, dating back to 1998, had weathered one too many New England winters and was ready for retirement.
The upgraded structure offers shaded seating for three lifeguards, clearer sight lines across the full swimming area, and a dedicated first-aid station stocked for the season. Volunteers from the Sherborn Lions Club pitched in nearly 60 hours of carpentry and painting to finish the job two days early.
Resident beach stickers cost $25 and senior stickers $10, both available at the Town Clerk's office in the Town Hall annex. The beach is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day, with lifeguards on duty weekends and holidays. Dogs, glass containers, and oversized inflatables are still prohibited.
